How to build an ARC REACTOR

Tue Nov 4, 2008, 2:49 PM
Well I have been saying for a while that I would do this tutorial and I think it's time that I did. I will post pics of the process later.

Here is a list of supplies that you will need for the MAR

1: Hampton Bay Tap Light two pack. (Home Depot)
2: Printed Picture of the Arc reactor electronics (Find a pic and print it up to 3.75")
3: A Metal craft pail Lid (They sell the craft pails at Richards Craft stores for $4)
4: Small electronics screws same size only longer as the ones in the tap light (radioshack)

Here are the tools you will need

1: small screwdriver set. (flathead and phillips)
2: scoupel
3: small hole punch

Ok that takes care of the things needed now lets get down to business.

On the tap light you will notice the back twists off. Take it off and toss it, we wont be using it. Next look for the two screws holding it all together. Remove them and toss em.
pull all 3 sections apart. The black backing with the LEDs, the metal shine plate and the clear lens for the front. In the clear lense there will be a colored button that activates the lights. Pop it out with a flat head screwdriver. Try not to scratch the clear plastic it will show.

Now take your printed Arc face which should be 3.75" in diameter. Oh yea print it on card stock by the way.Cut out all the spots you want light to shine through. Mainly the center circle and all the dark spaces in between the copper coils. Press it into the plastic lens. Place the metal plate over it.

Take the black back plate that the batteries go in and center it in the metal lid. Take your hole punch and make the holes for the screws.

Now, put the whole thing together. You should be good to go at this point. Hold iton with wig tape, double stick tape, straps, however you wish.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. If you want to tell me Im kool feel free, if You want to say Im lame, feel free. It's all good lol.
